Walkway Styles & Finishes

The classic, slip-resistant finish. Clean lines, practical texture, and the most cost-effective option. Ideal for front walks, side paths, and utility walkways.

Why Choose Concrete for Your Walkway

Concrete walkways outperform pavers, gravel, and stepping stones in every category that matters: durability, maintenance, safety, and long-term cost. A properly poured concrete walkway will last 30+ years with minimal maintenance, while pavers shift, gravel scatters, and stepping stones become trip hazards.

Concrete also gives you design flexibility. Beyond the standard broom finish, you can choose stamped patterns, exposed aggregate, colored concrete, or decorative borders. A walkway does not have to be boring — it can be a design element that enhances your home's curb appeal.

For Michigan specifically, concrete handles freeze-thaw cycles better than most alternatives when properly installed with the right sub-base, thickness, and control joints. We build every walkway to handle what Michigan throws at it.

Walkway FAQ

How wide should a walkway be?

Front walkways are typically 4-5 feet wide to allow two people to walk side by side. Side yard and utility paths can be 3 feet. We recommend wider for main entry paths.

How thick should a concrete walkway be?

Standard walkways are 4 inches thick on a compacted gravel base. This is sufficient for foot traffic and light equipment like wheelbarrows.

Will a concrete walkway crack?

All concrete can develop hairline cracks over time. We minimize this with proper sub-base preparation, correct thickness, and strategically placed control joints that direct any cracking to planned locations.

How long does installation take?

Most residential walkways are completed in 1-2 days. Stamped or decorative finishes may add a day for the detail work.

Can you match my existing driveway or patio?

Yes. We can match the finish, color, and style of existing concrete work on your property for a cohesive look.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. Up to 12 months same-as-cash and longer-term plans.
